The swivel INDOCHINE 528 chair by Cassina was designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1943. It was based on the LC7 tubular steel chair that Perriand had developed in Le Corbusier's studio in 1927. When the designer went to Asia for a longer period of time at the end of the 1930s, she increasingly focused on natural materials and adapted the design to the local conditions. She took up the concept of the LC7 chair and created the INDOCHINE 528 swivel chair, a solid wood version that appears more sensual and organic than its predecessor.
