The Capitol Complex Chair by Cassina is a tribute to Pierre Jeanneret, the famous Swiss architect and furniture designer. The chair was created between 1958 and 1959 when Jeanneret was working on numerous projects in the Indian city of Chandigarh in collaboration with his cousin Le Courbusier. In addition to the characteristic seat made of Viennese wickerwork, the "V"-shaped support is the most important compositional scheme of the design. It can also be found in other furnishing objects from the Capitol Complex family. In 2016, Le Corbusier's Capitol Complex government building was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, which has led to renewed interest in the furniture designs.
