The Dedon company, based in Lüneburg, was founded in 1990 and is one of the world's leading suppliers of outdoor furniture. At the end of the 1980s, former professional footballer Bobby Dekeyser had the idea of ​​creating an "outdoor living room" with durable furniture. The furniture had to be weatherproof and robust and thus equally resistant to the effects of sun, rain and cold. Two elements were crucial to the success: firstly, Bobby Dekeyser developed a completely new type of fiber based on polyethylene. Secondly, it was the traditional Filipino art of weaving that caught the young visionary's attention. During a trip to the island of Cebu, he made contacts and soon built his own factory to produce Dedon garden furniture at the site.
