The 699 Superleggera chair was designed in 1957 by the Italian architect Gio Ponti after years of research and several previous models and is one of his main works. As the name suggests, this chair is super lightweight - at just 1.7 kg. Ponti found a good balance between stability and lightness. The Italian architect limited himself to the bare essentials when designing this chair and thus created a timeless, classic chair that has not lost its charm over the years.

further description and details
The Cassina 699 Superleggera chair is made of ash and is available in natural ash, white lacquered ash and black lacquered ash. The version offered here, without fabric or leather cover, is made with a seat made of Spanish cane. This version is the most complex version of the Superleggera chair, as the weaving technique used here for the seat is an old, complex craft that only a few people from the Genoa region still master and that meets Cassina's standards.
