Michael Anastassiades is a Cyprus-born, London-based designer who founded his studio in 1994 and his own brand in 2007. The name Anastassiades is synonymous with lamps that are characterized by a poetic yet rigorous interpretation of technology, material and functionality. His work draws on many sources, which he distills into pure, simple structures. From nature to archaic references from his native Cyprus, the history of modernism, very personal memories, art and everyday life, he transforms a wealth of different references into a timeless vocabulary of forms and structures. Michael Anastassiades' design philosophy is to preserve the inherent qualities of the materials used. All products are handcrafted and exposed to the elements in a natural finish without protective varnishes. Oxidation is understood as a process that enhances the patina of an object, making it even more beautiful over time.
